Self-worth is something many people deal with. Some do not believe they are worth anything while others believe or at least want you to think they believe they are worth everything. Either way, there are times in our lives when we have feelings of both sentiments. Well, how are we seen in the bible? One might ask.

Galatians 6:3

3 If anyone thinks they are something when they are not, they deceive themselves.

We as humans are at this balance between being worth everything and nothing at the same time. You are worth everything when it comes to Jesus dying on the cross for you. He had to come and die for us to save us from ourselves. If we are the ones who brought anything to the relationship we have with Jesus, except surrender and submission, then why did he have to come to die. Without Jesus we are nothing, we are not the ones who contribute goodness to the relationship.

Psalm 139:13-15

13 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made your works are wonderful, I know that full well. 15 My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.

When forget who made us or just do not have our identity in God from the get-go. How can we expect to have good self-worth? What are you finding your identity in? Is it how well you can play a sport or instrument, maybe the way you are looked at by your friends, parents, or loved ones. When we do not find our identity in the Lord we then worry too much about what others think of us. By doing so we are finding our identity in those people. While we are not worth anything on our own we must realize that we are worth it all with and to Christ. You are valuable to the Lord.
